Feeling crafty? It’s time to dig out that giant bin of wine corks you’ve been collecting and get to work. After all that hard work of drinking and saving, you can finally put your efforts to good use with this cool makeover of an old chair into a modern corks stool. Step by step follow the second DIY project from my collaboration with Al-Mashhadiya TV show on Al Mayadeen TV Channel.
STARTING TIP: The BEST way to cut corks in half is by heating the cutter and slicing the cork while the blade is hot (trust me that’s the super best technique)
Cut 4 cardboards in the exact height of the stool while keeping a gap of 3mm for the corks of the last row. TIP: use a cardboard base with a color similar to the corks in order to have a nicer result in the end.

Make sure you firmly attach the cardboards to the legs of the stool.
Start glueing the corks with a glue gun (you can also cover the back of the cork with contact cement, white glue or E6000). Start from the side of the stool to hide all cardboard details.
…and continue glueing piece by piece. The secret is to be able to fit the corks next to each other to hide the cardboard base.
Keep on a stable platform to dry.

Stare at it with a happy proud face once its dry 🙂

et voilà … it’s DONE!
